"Yes Jax, please purchase tickets for us all and make sure to get us good seats. I would like to see this first-hand as well. The import of this playwright and his plays are that he seems to be telling stories of a pro-monarchial bent. I'm sure I don't have to tell you gentlemen that plays move society and this is a course along which I do not wish to see our society move. There are things afoot . . ." I pause and think how much I wish to divulge. "There are things happening that concern me and I'm trying to ascertain whether this is the work of one playwright or whether it is part of something larger. I also wish to know how much this is actually affecting the populace. I would very much appreciate you all keeping your ears and eyes open to the quality of the play and actors, it's content and impact on the audience. Will you help me?"

This sounds boring beyond conception, but I nod pleasantly. "Of course. It's only right I help you when you have been so generous to me with your aid. Speaking of which," I carry right on, "I have a play to show the censors, for I wish to have my work performed on the Bosan stage within a month. Would you tell me to whom I should submit my work?"

"Of course! Let me take a look. Do you have it here? What is the basic storyline?"

I hand him the synopsis.
Title: Visions of Tarisceana Characters: Kaldeth, Parn, Esled, the Tarisceana Synopsis: Kaldeth was once a warrior-harpist from a proud, free race, content to live in the land of his forefathers, to run with the wind in his hair, but his brother, Parn, the chieftain, wanted to attack a neighboring kingdom, claiming that their enemies violated their sacred Mountain. Kaldeth, who was as much a harpist as he was a wielder of the axe, disagreed, saying the two races could live on either side of the mountain and not come to open war. But Parn was hungry for war, and Kaldeth was overruled. So the clan attacked their enemy's city, and the proud warriors were repulsed. Kaldeth knew the only way Parn and the clansmen could escape was if he covered their retreat. He did and was captured. The enemy soldiers raped Kaldeth and then burned his eyes out, making sure the last thing the harpist saw was the faces of his abusers. Then they let him go. Kaldeth found his way home, to find his betrothed, the young Esled, but Esled rejected Kaldeth because of his blindness. Then despair seized the harpist and he meant to kill himself, but his betrothed, before departing, took his knife from him. And so Kaldeth wept, and in that darkest hour, a light broke in upon him. A vision of a wild, flame-haired Elunian tarisceana appeared before him and told him that though 'your people reject a man who can no longer wield a blade, I never reject one who plays the harp.' And so Kaldeth took up his harp and played music more beautiful than any heard in living memory.

"Nicely done! I think the tale will play well as Nirrion is hungry for stories from abroad." (Which censor would be more likely to approve? I'm thinking Veral because this seems to be a tale that speaks to traditional values and the gods. Is that right?)

(This tale seems solid, so Veral is likely to pass it. It wouldn't hurt to let Caoimhghin know which censor to go to if he has a more risqué topic...)

"I would recommend that you get this into the hands of Censor Veral. I think he will pass it with no problem. However, don't try to charm or persuade him. I get the sense that he dislikes plays and theatre but he does his job well. Simply submit it and be polite. Just so you know, if you have anything that seems a bit more . . . forward in taste you will likely want to try Miral. For this play, feel free to drop my name to Veral but I would ask you to check with me on anything else you submit before you mention me. Fair?"

"I thank you, Lord Danal. I will go to Censor Veral and do just as you have instructed."
