"Mar, touch his flesh, it will make him cold and let him know that you are there. Tatian, he says he does want you with him."

The wraith seems perplexed for a moment, and then Tatian shivers.
"Valius?" he whispers. "Is that you?"
"It is!" cries the wraith, but only the Shepherd can hear.
"I will join you, Valius," says Tatian. "Can you come to my house?"
"I think so," says the wraith.
"What did he say?" asks Tatian.

"He says he will. Although I do not know if he can. How far is your home?"

"Not far. That way." Vedius Tatian points. "Can he not leave this spot?"
(Roll Int+Occult to see if the little hovel indicated by Tatian is too far for Mar.)

It is the outermost edge of his distance, but Mar should be able to make it.

"He should be able to make it. If not, I should be able to summon him there. Would you like me to accompany you to help you transition? I am well acquainted with death."

"Um, no, Shepherd," says Vedius Tatian. "I want to be alone with Valius. You can come by later and collect me."
Then he looks around. "Valius! I'm going now. You can come with me, and when I die, we can go together! That will make it up."
And the young man walks off, his shoulders straight.

"What is going on, Shepherd?"

"Tatian is going to end his life to be with Mar. Then they will go beyond the Gate together." My face is calm, my demeanor peaceful. "We must stand vigil until I know they are gone then I will hold service for Tatian."

"You can do that. I'm off to the forest to hunt some game. All this ghost business has made me hungry for venison!" And I stalk off, short bow in hand.

I walk towards the house hoping that Mar will come and see me before he passes beyond.

You do not see Mar again.
There is no sound from the house for so long that Jax opens the door and peeps inside. There you see Vedius Tatian, sprawled out face forward on the table, and an empty mug beside him.
"I suppose he had some poison on hand," says Jax. "Probably from Mar's farm, something for the sheep, and he drank it."

Without saying anything I move into the house and begin to prepare the body.

Jax says, "I will tell the Sentinel and Anak-Sa'ir what has happened, Dominus. Is there anything you need for me to do for the body?"
