I bow to him in acknowledgement of his words of praise. It is important for me to make connections and give and garner respect after my long sojourn away from the City. Besides, Anthemios and Paul are fellow Byzantines, so I am more disposed to like them.

Zoe sidles up to Sir Roland. "Will there be a dance tonight?"
Pakourianis the Dove and Lady Alexia's absences at the last council are quietly being wondered at, in contrast to their both being very much in presence here.
Belisarius, Military Prefect of the Ventrue, is also present, and he moves over to Sir Diocles. "It is good to see you, nephew."

I bow low to Belisarius, even lower than I bowed to the Muses, for he is not only their peer, but in my estimation outranks them because he is the childe of Antonius. "Uncle, I am honored by your condescension. May the declarations made here tonight serve to strengthen the Antonians."

"And the strength of the Antonians is the strength of the City," says Belisarius, clapping his hand on your shoulder.
Abetorius of Clan Tremere approaches you, Aida. "And who is this lovely lady on your arm, Witch of the Blue Nile?" he asks. For this is Layla's first appearance in Kindred society.

I bow my head slightly and say, "This is my Childe, Layla Madeer, Witch of the House of Lamps. We are glad to be properly introduced, Abetorius, Chantry-Master of the Tremere."

His eyes widen. "I had heard you were a witch, but I had not expected one from so far afield to have heard anything of Tremere ways. I am pleased to make the acquaintance of two such witches..."

"As are we pleased to make the acquaintance of a Tremere such as yourself," I respond with a small smile. "

"Perhaps," says Abetorius, "we can spend some time during this Council exchanging magical observations? After all, this Council can have little meaning for Latins like us."

I smile down at Zoe. "No one has requested one yet Zoe but there will likely be space for at least one. You flatter me with your request."

"Of course I want a dance!" she says. "Let's ask whoever is in charge to make sure we get one! I'm sure it's one of the Muses. Uncles!"
She calls out, fluttering her fingers at the Muses. "Who is making sure we have dances?"
The Muses exchange glances. Finally, Pakourianis answers, "Zoe, niece, it is the Quaesitors who would decide. That would be Petronius, your sire, and Lord Myca Vykos, and Sir Diocles. Any of them could make the decision."

"I think that would be a good idea, especially as, with all Councils, there is always ample time for everything." I smile small at Abetorius.

"Zoe, I will approach Petronius at a suitable time. You will get your dance."

Abetorius smiles, the careful shaping of lips that belongs to a master magician who never smiles.
