I nod. "That is wise, and I hope that someday, this can be ... be the way that things are dealt with." My voice breaks. "Thank you, Mariner, for your kind words and gentle care of a little girl who had the presumption to fall in love." I wipe my eyes. "What is the proper sacrifice? When I sacrificed in Arinport, they ... seemed to think that I was mad, but they kindly sacrificed anyway..."

"What was this unusual sacrifice you brought?"

I have taken the precaution of bringing five small rocks with me. I actually picked them up nearer the seashore when we walked there, so there is a little bit of the sea's mark on them.
I set the pebbles down, then cast Continual Light on each. I then blow a kiss at the log burning in the brazier that warms the room, marking it with Mairwyn's Smoldering Kiss.
"These lights will not go out," I say, "nor will the log in your fire burn away." (It also burns twice as hot now, by the way, so he should be able to feel the difference in temperature.)
"These are the offerings I give to Galadrin, on behalf of my Iritari."

Petemet takes a step back and stares at the stones in awe. "What a priceless gift you bring! Light in darkness, heat in cold. Galadrin accepts your gift on behalf of Breakwater and for the betterment of its people." He takes your hand and leads you to a chair near the fire, but then he pulls the chair back a bit. "Too close now." He chuckles. He seats you and offers you a warm drink. "Perhaps coffee? We have a local Faror blend."

"Yes, please. You are too kind." I smile, sadly, for I am happy to be able to help these people of Breakwater, but my heart is still heavy over Iritari. It always will be.

Petemet fetches your drink himself, and he gets one for himself, too. At last you two are seated by the fire of your design, sipping coffee and feeling blessed for being warm.

"I could give you another of these fires," I say. "But please, do not tell those of Breakwater that it was I who gave them. Let them, and the lights, be a gift of Galadrin's."
This is, of course, partly for my own preservation, but also partly because I feel as though when the sea took Iritari, that it was the Sea-Lord Himself who was taking my beloved, and that I ought to show gratitude for this honor...

The Grorekathi Problem
You awake on the second night in Breakwater with news that a Grorekathi caravan is stranded in the town but is looking to get on the move again, despite the wasteland, frozen conditions of the continent.

I have had little contact with Grorekathi, but one of their Sentinels is my dear friend Mikkel. I go to seek out the caravan.
Anything I can do to help, I will, though I would prefer that the aid come to them through Mariner Petemet, even if it originates with me.
Do I see anyone who looks like the captain of the caravan? I do remember Mikkel saying their leaders were referred to as "Captains".

Merely by asking on the street, you find your way to a dockside inn called "The Net", and outside you see the covered wagons of the Grorekathi as well as the people themselves with their children. They've turned the end of the street into their own camp.

Do I see any indication of their clan name? (Heraldry?) I approach the nearest one and speak in Grorekathi. "May I speak to your Captain?"
(I would like to add the clan name when I speak to the Captain, so if I can figure it out, I'd like to. Success rolled on Heraldry if applicable.)

They are the Skafa clan. An old woman who looks like a storybook witch looks up at you from where she is cutting potatoes with an old iron knife and dropping the chunks into a cauldron boiling over a fire. "What do you want with him? I tell you my son won't fall prey to the charms of a young girl like you, no matter how beautiful you are!"

"I wished only to greet him, as is proper, before asking after your Sentinel. I am an old friend of one of the Skafa Sentinels, and I had hoped to hear of him from you." I smile at her. There are but few Grorekathi, in contrast to most peoples of Norivea, and I know the dire truth of the reason why. Still, that is no call to be rude to this old mother.

The old crone narrows her eyes at you and then suddenly smiles. "The net got him. Snared for sure." And she thumbs toward the inn with a wink.

I curtsy prettily and go to the inn. I have a little coin, enough to buy some wine if nothing else, and I am curious to see what are the relations between the Grorekathi and the Zenji now in this time of crisis.
I also am curious to meet the Captain and know if he has seen or heard of Mikkel.
