"Perhaps I could ride King with Mikkel?" I say, stroking the stallion's nose. "And you could ride Bindi, Captain?" I am quite taken with this Kindor stallion!

Aberana doesn't mind which horse he rides, and the switch is made. You bid farewell to Roibéard and his Zenji followers and head toward Breakwater.

I sit behind Mikkel, though normally I would, being smaller, ride in front of him. I want to help support him on the horse.
Also, as soon as we are well away from any other observers, I create another light stone and put it into the small pouch, replacing the one we traded.
"Will we be able to make it to Breakwater without stopping again?" I ask the Captain. I doubt it, for I know that even riding must be tiring for Mikkel.

Aberana shakes his head. "Certainly not. We don't want to tax the Sentinel's strength. We'll stop after riding a couple hours." He looks ahead, like the seasoned traveler he is, scanning the horizon for signs of life or danger.

I lean against Mikkel's back, relaxing a little, despite everything. The whole world has fallen apart, and yet I have been able to help two dear friends to meet each other again, the Captain and the Sentinel.
It is a singular grace of Galadrin's, I am sure.
I had not imagined ever to see Mikkel Ironeye again, but here he is, returned to those to whom he is dear.
Would I have had the courage to do this were it not for having seen Iritari's sacrifice?
I do not think so...
I jerk up a little. Did I doze as we rode?
"What is it, Captain?" I ask.
