After traveling back from Tir Na Og, Rajit seeks out Manfri again. "My kinsman, before we leave again I have a question and a favor to ask. First, the question. Why does it seem that Rosentos bears my companion Mairwyn ill will? As I see it, she is risking everything for this task but yet he seems to judge her harshly."
"Secondly, I am concerned about the next phase of our travel. If Tir Na Og is any indication of the kinds of foes we might encounter, I am concerned that my axes, knives and bolas will be of little to no use against creatures of great power. Do you know of any way that they might be enhanced or blessed so that they might at least have a chance of defending us against mighty creatures?" [player speak: not looking for magical weapons, just some kind of spell or blessing that would allow them to strike creatures requiring magical weapons]

Manfri glances at your spear. "I can help you with your mundane weapons, but what about your staff? Do you know anything about it?"

"I know that it is special as it was a gift of the Dryad. If you know anything of its history or powers please tell me."

"No, no, you don't understand, my friend," Manfri says with a nervous laugh. "You say dryads? Tell me more. Because all I can tell you is that this staff is not magical--not in the sense we talk about. There is no enchantment laid on it. Whatever it is and whatever it does, it is the inherent virtue of the wood itself." He pauses. "Where did you get that thing?"

"Stupid of me, I thought maybe you had heard the story." Rajit relates to him the journey to Tir Na Og, the taking of Mairwyn, the Wild Hunt, the giants, the horse and the Dryads. Being a gentleman he leaves out the last bit about the Dryads. "So, if it does not radiate enchantment, how does it function?"

Manfri claps you on the shoulder and smiles. "I think we're just talking semantics now, which is, I admit, its own fascinating field of study. But for the sake of this discussion, let me just say that this wood has no external magic or enchantments laid on it. I assume therefore that the very nature of the tree from which this wood came is magical by nature, not be artificial infusement. Does that make sense? You speak of dryads. Their tree must be its own living magical item, for the lack of a better term."

"I see." Rajit chuckles. "Or rather I don't see but take your word for it. Either way, I am proud to bear forth such a gift into this world. However, of all the gifts, the soil is the most precious. Once the sun returns, I hope to be able to see our lands flourish as a result. Manfri, you should have seen the land! the tree! Tir Na Og was the essence of what we love so much! When I journey beyond this world I hope my heart will rest in those lands. I wish I could describe to you how mighty the tree was. It's breadth seemed such that it would encompass all of Norivea!" His expression turns from excitement to somberness. "But there is much to be done in the meantime. What part will you play in all of this?"

Master Manfri actually tears up at this brief description, revealing to Sundel blood that not even years of Ravenwood instruction could wash away. "That would be a glorious thing to behold." He collects himself before he continues. "We will stay here and work in secret, as we always have. You mentioned Master Rosentos just a minute ago. It's not that he bears Mairwyn ill will. It's just that he thinks it unwise that she stay."

"Why is this? I would think that someone with her gifts would be an asset to this place."

Manfri shrugs and looks away, unable to meet your gaze for some reason. "Rosentos thinks she'll tear the place apart, that... we won't work together well anymore. Ravenwood would lose its... cohesion." He is clearly reticent on this point.

"I will not ask further but if you ever need my help here please call upon me. I will miss you Manfri. It is always good to see someone from home. Is there any way I can repay you for helping with my mundane weapons? Or any way I can be of any help at all to you?"

Manfri takes your weapons and weaves a simple spell over them. Gold dust falls from his fingertips and sinks into the material of your weapons, enchanting them. "Just bring back the sun, and come back to get the soil. As you do, I want the hurts done to Sundelia to be soon healed!"

"Many thanks Manfri, you are too kind. I will return with the sun and then on to the restoration of our land! Fare you well."
