Whenever Rajit can get some time with Aethyl: "Clearly I have joined a group with much history and some of it appears dark. I would have you tell me all, unvarnished, so I might have the measure of each of you" a smile tugs at his lips "and also so that I may not unknowingly incur the wrath of some mighty foe. I gather that there was history with this captain we slew. But I would imagine this was not the beginning of your tale." He looks at Aethyl expectantly.

"Your boldness and candor are refreshing. Many a man claims to want the truth unvarnished, but few there are who will speak or hear it so. I will not tell you all, as some is not mine to tell, and some is mine to guard. But all that I may tell you, and howsoever plainly, I will tell.
"And I will say first, as it was the first you heard, yet the least worthily in manner, that of all the mighty deeds of renown, as yet unsung, but long to be remembered in the lore of our people and of this world, none were greater, none loftier, none more fell, none more costly, none more noble, none more worthy of remembering, than Mairwyn's Sacrifice.
And of her Sacrifice I am as yet unworthy even to frame the first words, the first notes. Silence alone can speak so near the hour of her offering any fit measure of her praise.
"And to the other part of your question, there is indeed a history, and of it I will speak but dimly, and that because you now have part in it. The Ausir captain was known to us, a man most evil. He was proud, and cruel, a slaver of slavers. And as you know, fearsome even in the lowest ebb of his strength and readiness at arms.
"And we slew him."
Aethyl's face makes it clear that his passions are kindled, and while his demeanor is kind and even gentle toward Rajit, it is equally clear he is neither ready nor willing to speak further on this matter.
"But see, we are beginning at the end of our story. Come, let me tell you of our road has led to yours."
The two stay up late into the night, for many nights, and at the end, Aethyl says, "And now, here we all are, and here we two are.
"Come, friend, for now friend I call you. We have shed our blood together, and are bound together thereby. What of your story, and your road, to us?"

Rajit takes some time in silence digesting events. "Thank you for sharing with me. From even what has come before it seems that you shall never run short of material for your songs. I am sorry for the loss of your cousin although it sounds like he was estranged even as he was close by. Chaos is a powerful agent. And so is Order. Our people strive to embrace both and neither so as not to be corrupted at either end. I will tell you my story and my journey but must think on all of these things first."
He clasps Aethyl's shoulder warmly. "Thank you for calling me friend and I name you thus as well."

Rajit returns later for another conversation. "There are a great many things I could share with you Aethyl. So many I do not know where to start. What would you like to know of me?"

"Tell me of your youth, and of the beauty of your homeland. Tell me of your people, and their ways. And if you can sing, I would love to hear some of the songs of your history."

"I can sing well enough for myself alone in the wilderness but no one clamors to hear me" he says grinning. "I was raised in the training and stories of my forebears. I am firstborn and descended in an unbroken line from one of those who threw off the chains of our masters. It was expected that I serve our people. I was proud to be made a Spear of the Shezazi upon reaching manhood. Our homeland is beautiful indeed. At least to our eyes. Some call it desolate but their eyes are blinded to its worth. We are not used to cities. In truth they make me uncomfortable. We love open spaces where we can see the horizon and live in the open. We forsook large settlements early on as we had to hide from those who would return us to captivity. We are suited to the open, to freedom. Because of my duties I have not often left Sundel. I miss it terribly already."

Rajit obliges by singing a traditional traveling song that is his favorite when on his own. [Rajit has no proficiency for this.]
