"Thank you Kimon. Much appreciated."

"Wow, who pissed in his ale?"

I wave my hand with a flourish and smile at my companions, especially Anak-Sa'ir. "Well, we artists need a haven where our art can incubate. That's Desolation Row, a place that symbolizes our freedom, our unmooring from authority, left to our own artistic devices to do what we will. It is a wonderful slice of carnival, where we drink and cut loose, overturning the normal order of life. Our characters haunt the apartments there, rendering our scene evermore surreal and bizarre."

"Are you speaking figuratively or literally? I could use an environment where there might be a little more . . . trouble."

"Figuratively, of course. It's a place for artistic minds to meet, where 'love' can flow freely. No trouble."

"That's a shame. I could do with a spot of trouble." I again scan the room.

I pick up my cup of wine and relocate to a side booth. I've yet to figure out why this librarian always seems to be spoiling for a fight.

There are several people here, but the place is quiet. If you want trouble, you will have to start it...

Alas, that I cannot do. I shall have to simply drink more. "More wine for my friends and I Jax, there's a good lad."

Jax fetches more pitchers of wine from the bar and pours them out for you and your companions.

"Actually Coaimhghin and Anak Sa'ir [do I call him Anak, Sa'ir, or Anak Sa'ir?] I have a favor to ask. I am in need of learning the art of persuasive speech. Might I engage your services to that end?"

"You wish to become an orator, or are you looking to become someone who convinces others in private conversations?"

"A little of both to be sure. In the short term, the latter will be most useful but the former will be, hopefully, in the long term."

"I train actors to deliver speeches, but I am no rhetorician. I don't know how much I can help. In delivery I can aid you, but not in matter."

"Well, the problem is not content. I know how to say what I know. The problem is delivery. I need my hearers to feel what I'm saying. I need them to connect with it in their hearts and spirits. Could you help me do that? Surely you translate your own passion into the delivery of the words you write."
