As we dance I laugh with delight, exulting in this intoxicating moment. When the dance is concluded, I bow with a flourish to Aida and Zoe.
"Fair ladies, it has been a pleasure beyond words to have shared in this dance with you this night. Each of you has given life to the song, and so the dance. I count myself fortunate indeed, and thank you both."

Zoe giggles. "It was a lot of fun! I hope we can dance together again soon." Her dark eyes sparkle.
The final movement had concluded with the Emperor Caius and the Lady Chrysalia partnered, but the third in their triad is not the other House Head, not the Arbiter, but Pakourianis the Dove.

I smile at Zoe and Alexios. "It was a lovely dance, and I thank you both for being such wonderful partners. Truly, an honour and a pleasure, one I hope we can enjoy together again." I kiss Alexios' cheek and then I kiss Zoe's.

Sir Roland, you are able to determine that this surprising end does not surprise either Pakourianis the Dove or Petronius the Arbiter. What Caius, Emperor of the Night, might think, you have no notion.
Alexios, you are able to realize the above, but you know that the Emperor of the Night was absolutely shocked.
Aida, you know both of the above bits, and that Caius is not only shocked at the occurrence, but even more upset that it does not seem to have upset either Muse.
As everyone is chatting, as Sir Roland is being congratulated, Gallasyn approaches the Frankish knight.
"Well," huffs the pretty Toreador. "That was ... something, I suppose. I mean, as much of a something as anything choreographed and soulless can be."
He tosses his head.

I smile widely at him and bow. "Why thank you Gallasyn, your praise is valued." Of course I recognize the slight but am choosing to ignore it as I know the rest of the guests enjoyed the dance.

Gallasyn, with the utter lack of moderation that all who know him recognize, presses on. "I mean, surely, you know that the best art, the greatest dance, springs forth full-formed from the heart!"

"The heart is a good source for art but surely it should be shaped by the mind as well? The circumstances of the audience and the culture?"

Gallasyn says, "The culture should be shaped by the heart itself!"

"Ah, but the heart can mislead can it not?"

"Even if it is," says Gallasyn arrogantly, "it at least makes for better art!"
And he tosses his head again, before waltzing off, still murmuring under his breath about much better his own art is.
"A touch jealous, perhaps?" suggests Anthemios of Tralles, who has come up to you, Sir Roland, at this moment. "Gallasyn is ... not what he used to be."

"There are different tastes in the world and his and mine are far apart." I say watching Gallasyn walk away. Turning to Anthemios "What do you mean that he is 'not what he used to be'?"

"I mean that he used to have better tastes," says Anthemios. "He wasn't always so ... crass."

I watch Caius closely after the dance, even through the conversation between Gallasyn and Sir Roland —which I follow— I still, unobtrusively, watch Caius.
