I reduce Mikkel then, and I cast fly on myself. I hold him close, sharing my body heat with him, as I fly upward. "Mikkel, Mikkel," I murmur. "Mairwyn is here. Mairwyn will look after you."
I fly up and out of the pit, carrying Mikkel.

(Made it! Trying a new dice roller upstairs.)
I try my best to hold onto Mikkel.

Mikkel is small enough to hold, but still flying is new to you. You know how a bird feels carrying its prey; the weight threatens to flip you over head down, to send you spinning, but you control the distribution and make it out of the wurm's lair. You see Aberana sitting beside a large and warm campfire, and Bindi is also nearby, with a blanket on his back and a feedbag on his nose.
The Grorekathi captain leaps up. "What is this, Mairwyn?"

I lay Mikkel down by the fire and restore his full size. "He had slain the wurm, but he was too injured even to drink a potion. Now, he is in danger from the cold. Captain, could you set up our tent? I need him inside and by the fire. I will stay with him. I do not want to take my body heat from him now. The cold is dangerous!"
I rub Mikkel's hands as I lie beside him, trying to put as much of our flesh in contact as I can. I need to share my warmth with him!

Aberana nods grimly and sets to work, and you watch with admiration at how quickly and expertly the captain moves. He knows exactly what to do, being a Grorekathi who is used to the trials of the open road.
In no time, Aberana pulls Mikkel into the tent, and you go inside with him to help.

As the Captain is moving Mikkel, I take the moment to cast Mairwyn's Smoldering Kiss on one of the logs. That should help with our keeping Mikkel warm. Then I go back to lying beside.
"Mikkel," I murmur again. "Mairwyn is here."

In time you and Aberana get Mikkel warm, and the Sentinel begins to recover. He is weak from his battle and near death, but he is happy you are here. You have a warm reunion, and laughter comes at last. But then the laughter stops suddenly when Mikkel realizes...
"Mairwyn, my legs won't move!"

My desire to heal, to help, overwhelms me, and I turn to the pair of males.
"Galadrin, have mercy." Tears tremble on my lashes, but a resolve hardens in my breast.
"I cannot do anything about that ... yet, darling," I say. "I am for Ravenwood, and I will find there a means to heal you." I look to Aberana. "The Captain is taking me along the way..."
I know that Aberana will offer to return with whatever Mikkel might need, but I wait for him to say it. After all, he risked so much for Mikkel's sake, that this will be little enough more.
And in my thoughts, I am already planning to beg Mariner Petemet to look after Mikkel while the Captain and I are gone.

Mikkel smiles up at you and puts on a brave face. "You going to take my place as Sentinel of the Skafa?" He winks at you, trying to keep a good humor.

"Only temporarily," I say, my tears still on my lashes. "I have already told the Captain that I cannot stay there. It is just while you ... recover." I glance at Captain Aberana. "Is that not what I said to start?"

Aberana nods. "I'd love Mikkel to be back helping me lead the caravan, but as things stand--" His face blanches. "Sorry, Mikkel. Didn't mean it that way. But you need to recover your strength in Breakwater. Mairwyn, do you know anyone who can help?"

"Mariner Petemet," I say at once. "He is already very kindly disposed toward me, and he is a good man anyway. He would not let Mikkel suffer during his recovery. I will ask him when we return to Breakwater."
And if necessary, I will pay for Mikkel's stay with light and heat! It may leave a trace of my passage, but this is more important!

"Then let's make a swift return!" the Grorekathi captain says, rising, but then immediately crouching again. "Wait. We have only one horse and three of us, one who cannot walk."

"Then we put Mikkel on the horse," I say at once. "Or ... I know that you two would not betray me, so please do not speak of it to anyone. I could enlarge the horse, for up to ten hours a day. Then we three could all ride..." I look to the two males, and my heart aches for them. They are clearly so dear to each other, and they are to be parted for so long.
