Ingvald has been listening to your tale with furrowed brow, trying to follow the words.
Marcellus nods. "That sounds like it would do well. Lots of appeal to the nobler sentiments, nothing political for anyone to object to. How long is it? And how long are you looking for it to run?"

"The censors have already approved the play, so there's no trouble on that score. Visions of Tarisceana is a three-act play, with four speaking parts and several non-speaking roles, and I am hoping it will run at least a month. I think Sindre's harp playing and Anak-Sa'ir's acting will carry it at least that far."

Marcellus opens his mouth to speak, but before he can speak, Ingvald tugs on him, pulling him down to his ear. A flood of a speech you do not speak pours out.
(Perc+Linguistics to recognize what the tongue is)
Marcellus smiles indulgently. "So usually there is a fee for holding the theatre for a month, which is returned if your ticket sales are good enough, but I think this play has such a solid appeal, we can forgo that fee. The Bosan is booked for the rest of the week, but next Fire Day, the 15th, we could do some rearranging. You will want the evening, of course, not matinees, not with something so heavy. So I can do some shifting... Does that suit?"

I bow to Marcellus. "You, sir, are too obliging, and your unstinting generosity humbles me. Yes, that suits me just fine." I glance at Anak-Sa'ir. "I will get my troupe rehearsing right away."

You are not able to determine what tongue young Ingvald spoke in, but Marcellus says, "Then shall we sign the contract tomorrow morning? Or does tonight, right now, suit you better?"

I clap my hands together. "Now is always the appropriate time!"

Marcellus nods, and an unobtrusive bodyslave scampers away.
"Will you both do me the honor of drinking with me while we wait for the contracts to be brought over?" He nods backstage. "There are always wine and water back here for the refreshment of our lovely entertainers, and I doubt they quaffed it all during 'The Silver Bow'!"

I bow and gesture expansively. "Lead on, good Marcellus. I follow, as I'm sure Anak-Sa'ir does, too."

Marcellus ushers you all backstage.
(Perc+Alertness for both Caoimhghin and Anak-Sa'ir)
"Here." Ingvald is the one who pours out mugs of decent wine and passes them around. "To the Ducks!"

Marcellus tousles Ingvald's hair again.
Caoimhghin, you notice a Sundel youth, probably not quite fifteen, glancing at both you and Anak-Sa'ir as he slips out from backstage and into the crowd that is gradually leaving.
A shiver goes up your spine.
It is not long before the slave returns with contracts.
"These are fairly standard," says Marcellus, handing them to you. "Can you read Skenje?" he asks. "I mean, obviously, you're lettered if you're playwright, but being northerners, I wondered if your lettered tongue was Zenji."

"Who the hell..." I let it drop, but my mind dwells on that mysterious Sundel youth. I nod, attending to the business at hand. "I can read Skenje." I take the contract and peruse it.

(Both you and Anak-Sa'ir need to look over it. Int+Commerce rolls or Wits+Subterfuge)

I do not smile, but I flash a private look of utter contempt at Caoimhghin. Ducks, indeed. Who would want ducks when they could have swans?
