Drusincus admires his companions and enjoys the adventures and travels that he has shared with the others. Gladiators are not known for showing their feelings out of fear of being looked upon as weak. However, Drusinicus frequently contemplates his desires to protect those around him, even if it is means self-sacrifice and death. He knows that such feelings lay in stark contrast to his training and gladiatorial instincts but also realizes that it is through the group that true strength emerges.

The Protector of Breakwater
In a narrow street filled with merchants' stalls selling everything from beads to butchered meat, you see a young man being roughed up by three ne'er-do-wells, yet none of the stall occupants are moving to intervene. Indeed, they keep their gazes averted as they concentrate on their work.

Drusinicus notices the three townsmen threatening and fighting with the young man. At this point, his gladiatorial instincts begin to overtake him as he quickly approaches the scene. As a gladiator he knows how to fight against more than one opponent especially in the arena; but, he also understands the importance of a fair fight especially against those who lack proper strength and training. Gladiators are not always concerned with issues of justice unless one is unjustly compensated for a good fight! In this situation, however, he feels morally obligated to defend the young man in the narrow street. At this point, it is obvious that his companions, the cousins, are beginning to influence his behaviors as well as his understanding of moral certainty. He approaches the three men with his short sword drawn.

The three men step back cautiously from the youth they're roughing up. "Don't interfere, stranger!" they say. "This ain't your town."

"This is clearly NOT a fair fight. Why don't I help show you some proper fighting techniques?! Drusincius grins and slowly approaches the three thugs with his sword drawn

"Put that tickler away!" one of the thugs says, but they're all backing away slowly.
"Ramses ain't gonna like this," another one growls. "Nobody crosses Ramses and lives!"
Ramses, you gather, is their boss, and they're threatening you that if you interfere, you'll have to answer to him.

"Ahhhh Rasnses is it? Tell your boss to be a man and seek me out in the city. In fact, tell Ramses that Drusincius is in town and wants to meet him - personally!" At this point, he continues to approach the thugs.

The thugs scatter before you, calling back that Ramses is "gonna get you".
The skinny young man at your feet is bleeding yet grateful that you saved him. He is clinging to your leg.

"Arise my friend and do not fear these thugs. I am a gladiator by trade and would be more than willing to teach you the art of self defense to you and the other merchants for a small fee."

The youth says nothing about your offer, simply blubbering his gratitude. "Good sir, my home is not far from here! Won't you come partake of Zenji hospitality? I have bread and hot soup. And meat."

At this point Aethyl (presumably after sharing the bar with Cian and Mulac?) stumbles into the street, having had a fair amount to drink. as he makes his way aimlessly down the main road, something in a narrow side street draws his attention, and he sees Drusinicus and the young man clinging to him. He squints in some confusion, and approaches them.
"Drew-Kin-iscus! Drew-uciniscis! Goodness, your name is a mouthful! My good man, what are you doing?! This poor fellow isn't half your size! This is scandalous, even for you! What did he do, insult your favorite sword-arm? Mock your biceps?" He wobbles a little.
"Oh, my." he says, blinking and shaking his head, as if to get the cobwebs out. "I may have had one or two too many. Ha, ha! Two, two, two too many."
He then grins at Drusinicus glassily.
"What happened here?"

"This blond stranger saved my life, and I want to repay him!" the Zenji youth adds, still clinging to Drusinicus as if he were a lifeboat.

Aethyl brightens at this, claps Drusinicus vigorously on the shoulder, and looks down at the youth. "Well, that's good news, but hardly a surprise. And nary a scratch on him. How typical. Well, young sir, you couldn't have asked for a more capable rescuer. If getting into trouble is your life's story, he'll provide a pleasant ending, that's sure! But I'm equally sure he was happy to help. Aethyl, at your service!"

The young man simply stares at you. Has he ever seen someone as dashing as Aethyl? He is speechless and just looks from you to Drusinicus, then he rallies. "My home is small and poor, but it is warm."
