"I am an entertainer by trade - a gladiator from the Nirron Empire. As a trained fighter, we are taught to withhold our emotions in front of the crowd and all others. Still, it is difficult to deal with the pain of death when one is alone; this is the side of the areena the crowds do not see. We bleed and are also human - we too, ae full of life and emotion." Drusincus continues to muse while drinking to drowned his sorrows.

The stranger gives you a strange root. "Chew on this and forget your troubles for a time." He rises, bows to you, and leaves.

Drucisnicus responds in drunken fashion, "Thanks, friend - and please be careful in this world of sudden death and unknowns."

Drusinicus is sill jarred by his near death experience and loss of his friend.

In his typical fashion, Aethyl loses little time exploring and, equally typically, is happy to frequent the watering establishments. He spies the Hooded Falcon, settles on a plan to drink to his cousins Cian and Mairwyn, to his new friend Drusinicus, to revenge, and to the sun, waiting its hour of rising, and to the new day it would bring, if he, and his companions, and all folk of good will had anything to say about it.
On that note, and with that promise to himself in mind, he makes his way inside and is pleasantly surprised to see Drusinicus. Without hesitation he makes his way over, noting the dark stranger making his way out, seemingly from Drusinicus' direction.
(Should I roll an observation check?)
He knows his companion well enough to see the unusual strain of sorrow in his face, and his own mood drops in tone. He sits quietly near his friend, studying him for a moment.
"Cousin Cian thought highly of you, and I see his passing is a wound most grievous to you as well. Will you honor me in pouring a libation and drinking to his memory?"

He grabs Aethyl's arms and says, "Cian is dead! I have also tasted death and seen the other side!" In a drunken tone, Drusinicus shouts across the bar, "I am NOT fit to be a gladiator of the great Nirrrion empire! I know what lay beyond this world and will soon be joining all of those who went before me including Cian!"

Seeing that his friend is both intoxicated and agitated, and that his mood is likely to draw attention and spoil the mood for others, Aethyl quickly speaks soothingly to Drusinicus, then stands up and echoes his words, as well as his manner, exactly. He then pauses for effect, waiting until attention is on him. Then, he strums his lute and launches into an improvised medley of battle songs, drawing from some of the classics of Elunia, selecting, as chance and tasteful choice allows, touching and stirring moments from those classics most reminiscent of Cian and the group. Both to honor the memory of his cousin, and not to draw unwanted attention, he leaves names out, but to anyone who had been with them the insinuations could not be more clear or (he hopes) appropriate. He hopes both to stir up and appease the patrons and also to soothe his friend's (and his own) grief.

The stranger is up to no good. That much is clear. You've no idea what he said to your friend, Drusinicus, though.

At the end of the song, Aethyl does his best to cut through the fog of drink.
"Drusinicus, who was that dark fellow? It looked like he was coming from your direction, and I did not care for his look. Did he say anything to you? Anything at all?"

"Ahh, my friend, the stranger!" - "Drusinicus charged with drunken fervor. "He did not tell me his name but had dark eyes and dark hair. He gave me this root to chew on for my pain and suffering …"

Smoothly and calmly Aethyl picks up the root and examines it with open curiosity.

"Why did he give this to you? Did he say what it was, or what it was for?"

It is a hallucinogen, and based on what you observed of the stranger, you immediately surmise that Drusie was to chew on this, trip his balls off, and then get robbed. Doubtless the stranger has a thieving crew waiting in the woods.

"The stranger left some time ago but told me that it would ease my pain. In fact, his whole presence was a shroud of mystery to me."
